2. The History of the Zeven Provincien TALL SHIP MODEL XX-LARGE

The Zeven Provinciën, a Dutch ship of the line armed with 80 guns, derived its name directly from "The Seven Provinces," reflecting the composition of the Dutch Republic with seven autonomous provinces in the 17th century.

Constructed between 1664 and 1665 by Master Shipbuilder Salomon Jansz van den Tempel for the Admiralty of the Maas in Rotterdam, this vessel played a pivotal role in major naval conflicts from 1666 to 1692.

It notably served as the flagship for Admiral Michiel de Ruyter, a distinguished naval officer of the Dutch Republic, between 1666 and 1674. However, in 1694, the Zeven Provinciën was decommissioned and sold for dismantling. A new replica has been in construction since 2008.
