Y105 - Australia II Painted XL Limited Edition

Y105 - Australia II Painted XL Limited Edition

Description:

Grand, authentic, and built to perfection—introducing the Australia Painted XL Limited Edition. This extraordinary model is handcrafted using only the finest materials, including rosewood, mahogany, teak, and select exotic woods. Constructed with the plank-on-frame method by master craftsmen, each strip of rare wood is meticulously placed to form a sleek and seamless hull.

Standing 9'3" high, nearly 7' long, and 1'3" wide, this is far more than a typical yacht model—it's a masterpiece of craftsmanship and precision. Painted in an elegant lustrous cream, the ship proudly displays the title "Australia II" along the hull.

Every detail has been carefully replicated, from metal steering wheels, wooden poles, navigation area, wooden sliders, and masts to intricately stitched fabric sails with the "#12 KA-6" marking on the mainsail. Additional highlights include a large wooden propeller, wooden anchor, and other refined metal ornaments, all adding to the yacht’s striking realism.

To ensure historical accuracy, extensive research was conducted using museum archives, original blueprints, and photographs of the actual yacht. This hand-built and hand-painted model faithfully mirrors the Australia II, capturing its original charm and grandeur.

Resting on a solid painted wooden stand, the model is further enhanced by a golden metal nameplate engraved with "Australia II 1983" for authenticity. Due to its impressive size, the masts are designed to fold flat for easier shipping and include an assembly guide—setup takes approximately 30 minutes.

History:

The Australia II (KA 6) is a 12-metre-class America's Cup racing yacht that made history. Launched in 1982, it famously won the 1983 America’s Cup for the Royal Perth Yacht Club, becoming the first successful challenger in 132 years—ending the New York Yacht Club’s 26-time winning streak.

Skippered by John Bertrand, the victory on September 26, 1983, was a defining moment in Australian sporting history, earning Australia II the prestigious ABC Wide World of Sports Athlete of the Year title.
