T390 - Cuauhtemoc Medium (curved sails)
This 28-inch model of the Cuauhtémoc beautifully captures the proud spirit of Mexico’s renowned training ship, showcasing exceptional craftsmanship and attention to detail. The hull reflects the vessel’s authentic color scheme, featuring a green–white upper body, a deep red bottom, and a refined green stripe running gracefully along the sides.
A standout feature of this model is its precision-cast resin figurehead, created from detailed 3D drawings to achieve remarkable sharpness and realism. Every contour is rendered with crisp accuracy, elevating the model to a new standard of decorative shipbuilding.
Constructed using the traditional plank-on-frame method, the model is handcrafted from premium woods such as mahogany and western red cedar. The Cuauhtémoc’s signature curved, wind-filled sails are made from fine linen, hand-stitched, and positioned to convey a sense of motion. Detailed rigging, lifeboats, cabin structures, railings, and deck fittings are meticulously assembled to honor the true character of the original vessel.
Mounted on a polished wooden base with a brass nameplate, the 28-inch Cuauhtémoc model is a striking display piece—perfect for collectors, maritime enthusiasts, or anyone seeking a premium nautical centerpiece.
History
The Cuauhtémoc is one of the most distinguished tall ships of the modern era, proudly serving as the Mexican Navy’s official sail training vessel since her commissioning in 1982. Named after the last Aztec emperor, she represents courage, resilience, and the enduring cultural spirit of Mexico. Built in Bilbao, Spain, she is part of the renowned “Windjammer” class of barque-rigged training ships and has completed numerous global voyages throughout her service.
For decades, the Cuauhtémoc has participated in international regattas, goodwill missions, and worldwide training expeditions, earning her the honorary title “Ambassador of the Seas.” Her elegant three-masted barque rig, towering spars, and beautifully curved sails create an iconic silhouette admired across the globe. Thousands of naval cadets have trained aboard her, mastering traditional seamanship while representing Mexico at maritime festivals and global events.
Today, the Cuauhtémoc remains a celebrated symbol of national pride and naval tradition. Revered for her craftsmanship, graceful lines, and commanding presence, she continues to leave a lasting impression in every port she visits.
