T016C - Cutty Sark (Black Wpod) Curved Sail L70
Bring home a piece of maritime history with a fully assembled model of the Cutty Sark, the last surviving original clipper ship of the 1800s, designed by the famed Hercules Linton and launched in 1869 in Dumbarton, Scotland.
Expert craftsmen meticulously handcraft each model using historical photos, drawings, and original ship plans. Built to scale from premium woods such as Western Red Cedar, rosewood, and mahogany, every piece is constructed entirely by hand using the traditional plank-on-frame method—just like the real ships of the era. Each model takes hundreds of hours to complete and undergoes rigorous quality checks before leaving our workshop.
The Cutty Sark model showcases plank-on-frame construction, two detailed decks, and a row of metal portholes along each side. The bowsprit and three towering masts are fitted with intricate rigging, with every line carefully knotted by hand. Each yard proudly displays hand-stitched, rolled linen sails. Metal anchors and a wooden rudder add authenticity to the bow and stern. On deck, you’ll find handcrafted lifeboats with ribbed planking, metal steering wheels, wooden ladders and windlass, the captain’s cabin, and an array of finely detailed ornamental features.
This model is mounted on a solid wood base with a brass nameplate, making it an exceptional gift for home or office décor, a treasured piece for boat enthusiasts, or a standout addition to any serious collection.
History
The Cutty Sark was built in Dumbarton, Scotland, in 1869 and first served in the China tea trade until 1873. She then spent nearly two decades voyaging between England and Australia before sailing under the Portuguese flag for twenty-five years beginning in 1895. Today, the Cutty Sark is owned by the Thames Nautical Training College and proudly rests in dry dock at Greenwich, London.
