A brief overview of the Nemesis Lmax model ship and its unique features

Make a statement of fearsome power with this 55-inch handmade model of the Nemesis. This model of the historic gunboat is entirely handmade using the traditional plank-on-frame method of ship construction. Both sail and steam-powered, the Nemesis was an intriguing hybrid of traditional and modern ship design. Detailed features include ornate mounted canons, lifeboats, captain’s wheel, and other finely made miniatures. 2. The History of the Nemesis Lmax Model Ship

Nemesis was England’s first ocean-going iron warship. Launched in 1839, the Nemesis was deployed to China where she served during the First Opium War under Captains William Hutcheon Hall and Richard Collinson. Armed with two pivot-mounted 32-pounder and four 6-pounder guns, her shallow draught and watertight bulkheads made her a formidable foe. In later years, Nemesis toured Indonesia and the Philippines where she worked to suppress pirates. Referred to by the Chinese as the “devil ship”, Nemesis was a force to be reckoned with indeed.
